DESCRIPTION:The Ghorfa Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the Common European Law on Investment Screening Institute „CELIS“ are glad to invite you to join:\n“Surviving Investment Screening in Germany and Europe – Virtual training on how to prevent the prohibition and restriction of Arab investment in Germany and Europe”\n25th Mai 2021, 09:00 -13:00 CET.\nSpeakers\n• Dr. Philipp Stompfe, Attorney, Alexander & Partner, Germany\n• Professor Dr. Steffen Hindelang, Uppsala University. Sweden\n• Jens Hillebrand Pohl, Adjunct Lecturer, Maastricht University, The Netherlands\nFollowing an initiative of Germany, France and Italy, the Council and Parliament of the European Union approved a Regulation on establishing a framework for screening of foreign direct investments (“FDI”) into the European Union (“Regulation”). The new Regulation became fully effective in October 2020. The Regulation creates an enabling framework for Member States to screen foreign direct investments on grounds of security and public order.\nOverall, international investors need to be aware of the increasing hurdles for direct and indirect acquisitions of German target companies. Therefore, the program is intended to help the Arab banks, Arab investment authorities, Arab state-owned enterprises, Arab sovereign wealth funds and Arab individual investors understand in depth these regulations.\nEnclosed you will find a detailed Agenda for the Training along with the publication on screening investment in Germany. The meeting will be held on the platform Zoom and the participation fee is EUR 300.00 (plus VAT) for each from our Ghorfa members and 400 EUR (plus VAT) for non-members.
